Why Eye Exams Should Be a Part of the Back-to-School Routine
End-of-Summer Eye Exam in Chicago
Every year, the back-to-school routine includes buying notebooks, pens and pencils, and other school supplies. But for your family, does going back to school also mean it’s time to go back to the eye doctor for a checkup? If not, perhaps it should. There are several reasons why getting an end-of-summer eye exam is a good idea, but most importantly, it could help your kids do better in school.
Easier Learning
For kids who have trouble seeing, going to school can be something to dread. According to the American Optometric Association, as much as 80% of a child’s learning happens through his or her eyes. From reading to writing, to using a computer or writing on the blackboard, vision is a necessary component to excelling in school. As kids progress in school, their vision becomes more and more important. If they can’t see the board correctly, or have trouble seeing and reading their homework or books, their performance can suffer. Taking your kids to an eye doctor in Chicago before school starts is a great way to make sure they get off on the right foot every fall. That way, they’ll be equipped as best as they can be for class, so they can bring home great grades.
Signs Your Child May Have Trouble Seeing
Unfortunately, kids might not be able to tell you they’re having trouble seeing, because they may be under the impression that they’re seeing the way everyone does. Especially with younger children, it may be up to you to notice whether they’re struggling. Things to look for include your child frequently rubbing their eyes or blinking excessively, avoiding reading and other close-work activities, holding books and other reading materials too close to their face, tilting their head to one side or covering one eye. Of course, visiting an eye doctor will make it that much easier to find out if your child is having trouble seeing. At an eye exam, the optometrist can evaluate your child’s eyes and find out if they are having any problems.
Before your kids head back to the classroom this fall, visit a Chicago optometrist to see if they need glasses or contact lenses.
Professional and clinically on target. My wife finally has received excellent care after being examined at Rosin. Highly recommend. Thank you.

I loved my visit here. I had a great doctor and I highly recommend her. She made the visit easy and smooth but was very detailed in her work. She was very open to my suggestions and gave me lots of options as far as lenses and gave me advice on how to improve my eyesight. The best visit with an Optometrist that I have ever had!
