Progressive Lenses and How You Can Benefit From Them
Benefits of Having a Progressive Lenses
If you’re getting new glasses and are dealing with presbyopia soon and you’ve used bifocals or trifocals the past but were bothered by the line in your lenses and the associated image jump, you’ll want to learn more about progressive lenses and the benefits you can enjoy when using them. Some consider them to be the “smart phone” lenses compared to bifocals and trifocals, which are similar to a rotary phone. Instead of simply offering two different powers of vision correction, progressive lenses offer the wearer a far larger range of use.
Benefits
If you’re new to presbyopia, or had trouble with bifocals and trifocals, you’ll prefer professive lenses, which make it easier to move your focus from seeing things in the distance to seeing objects up close. Progressive lenses offer vision correction for just about every distance—near, far, and everything in between. Since the vision correction shift is subtle, many people find them easier to adjust to than traditional bifocal or trifocal lenses. Also, thanks to the absence of unsightly lines, they tend to look more youthful, which is a quality many wearers enjoy.
Other Things to Consider
Patients who are new to progressive lenses may need to take some time to learn how to use the lenses to see clearly at all distances, so while you’ll likely enjoy wearing them, it may take a few weeks to master how to use these sophisticated lenses. While progressive lenses offer a greater range of vision than traditional bifocals, they do sometimes have their downfalls. Manufacturers of the lenses state that less than three percent of users have trouble adapting to the lenses overall, though, so the success rate is very high. Presbyopia onset takes place typically between a person’s late 30s to mid-40s, and for an optimally easy transition to progressive lenses, you may want to start using them as soon as your eyes start developing presbyopia.
Professional and clinically on target. My wife finally has received excellent care after being examined at Rosin. Highly recommend. Thank you.

I loved my visit here. I had a great doctor and I highly recommend her. She made the visit easy and smooth but was very detailed in her work. She was very open to my suggestions and gave me lots of options as far as lenses and gave me advice on how to improve my eyesight. The best visit with an Optometrist that I have ever had!
