Unfortunately, not everyone is an ideal candidate for a contact lens prescription. At Rosin Eyecare before your optometrist fits you for lenses, you need to undergo a comprehensive eye examination. This ensures that your eyes are in good enough health to wear contact lenses, as certain conditions—even difficult-to-detect ones—preclude the wearing of contacts. When your exam is complete, your eye doctor will be able to determine which types of contacts are best for your eyes.

Finding Contact Lenses That Fit

Contact lenses come in a wide variety of, styles, colors and materials, so it’s very important that you and your optometrist find the ones that best suit you. That in mind, at Rosin Eyecare, we dedicate as much time as it takes to find you the pair that fits best. Most patients only need to be fitted once, but in some cases, it takes multiple appointments to determine which type of contact lens is most appropriate. We take the extra time to make sure that you get the right lenses, and your eyes will thank you—your lenses will look and feel better, and your eyes will perform better than ever.

Contact Lens Training

If you’re nervous about wearing contacts for the first time, don’t be. At any of our  convenient Chicago or suburban optometry offices, we’re committed to helping you learn how to put in and take out your contact lenses. Our technicians give you one-on-one lessons in how to use and properly take care of your contacts. Need more than one session to feel extra confident? Don’t worry, we’ll happily schedule another training session, free of charge. Once you know the ropes, you’re free to start wearing your contacts when your ready, and we’ll set up a follow-up appointment to see how your eyes are taking to them.

Checking Back In

At Rosin Eyecare, we believe in being thorough when it comes to the health of your eyes, so after you start wearing your contact lenses, we’ll schedule a follow-up appointment to check on your progress. This helps to make sure that your eyes are responding well to the lenses and you feel comfortable with them. Any follow-up appointments you need during your first six months with your lenses are part of your initial fitting fee package.

Silicone Hydrogel Contact Lenses

Silicone Hydrogel materials are used to make contact lenses with the highest oxygen permeation available to patients. These lenses can be worn for extended periods of time in some patients, even up to 30 continuous days. Silicone Hydrogel lenses can also allow some patients to wear contact lenses during the daytime even when they can’t wear other types. They aren’t for everyone, though, so ask your Rosin Eyecare doctor if these highly breathable lenses are right for you.

Daily Disposable Contact Lenses

Offering the greatest level of convenience, daily disposable contact lenses are affordable, easy to wear and hygienic. Today’s daily disposable contact lenses are great for teens, athletes, patients with allergies, people who travel frequently, and anyone who wants to eliminate the need to clean and re-use a contact lens. Ask your optometrist if daily disposable contact lenses are right for you.

Multifocal Contact Lenses

Multifocal and bifocal contacts offer patients the convenience of having both distance and reading vision in a single lens. Just like bifocal glasses, these lenses allow you to continue your active lifestyle without having to fumble for reading glasses to read off a menu, scorecard or computer screen. Ask your eye doctor if these lenses are a good fit for your prescription needs.

Once your optometrist has fitted you for contact lenses, you can order them whenever you want. You can order up to a one-year supply. We feel it important to examine your eyes at least every 12 months to make sure that the contact lenses are helping you see clearly and to make sure that there are no issues with the fit of your lenses. Oftentimes the fit can change over a 12 month period and many issues you may be encountering are often asymptomatic, meaning your eyes may feel fine but the lenses may not be fitting appropriately. For that reason, you can’t order more than a 12-month supply.

If you prefer, we can provide you with a written prescription, which will expire 12 months past your most recent exam.
