Our Philosophy

Whether it is LASIK or Photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) surgery, we believe that vision correction surgery is a three-part process. Education, the surgery itself, and the post-operative period are distinct phases of vision correction. Our team is committed to the highest level of expertise and caring service for each and every patient.

Education
During your initial visit measurements will be taken in order to determine all of your personal vision correction options. These options often include LASIK, Wavefront guided LASIK (Custom LASIK), PRK, phakic intraocular lenses (implantable contact lenses. Various procedures will then be thoroughly discussed. Each patient is educated in terms of technical details pertaining to surgery as well as predicted outcomes and of course potential risks. Following this appointment, we encourage patients to take time to read through information summarizing their vision correction options and "digest" information discussed. Our vision coordinators will follow up with a phone call in order to answer additional questions and if desired a date for surgery is set as well as an appointment with our surgeon, Dr. Jonathan Rosin, for a pre-operative visit. During the pre-operative appointment, patients undergo measurements in order to plan their procedure. This is also a time for questions, which many patients want to address with Dr. Rosin. We believe that this very personal and informative approach to vision correction surgery is the basis for patient happiness.

Surgery
Our laser centers are equipped with state of the art instrumentation. Because we have access to various lasers, we are able to select the most suitable laser for each patient. Surgery itself is a painless and quick experience. Most patients are asked to arrive thirty minutes prior to their surgical appointment and can expect to spend no more than one hour in our laser center from "check-in" to "check-out". Actual surgery takes only five to seven minutes per eye. Patients are asked not to drive on the day of surgery. If needed, transportation can be arranged by our vision correction coordinators.

Post-Operative Period
The post-operative period begins on the day following surgery. It is necessary for all patients to be seen by Dr. Rosin on the day following vision correction surgery. Most patients can resume normal activities at this time. Specific instructions are given depending on the nature of each patient's procedure. Patients are seen again during the first week, then at four weeks, three months, and at the sixth month following surgery. Some patients will require additional appointments. There is never a charge for post-operative visits. It is very important to us that patients are seen through the sixth month following surgery as this generally marks the end of the healing process following most forms of laser vision correction (LASIK, Custom LASIK, and Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK)).
