Our History

In 1930, Dr. Joseph Rosin and his brother Maurice Rosin opened a small optometry office on Cermak Road in Cicero, Illinois. Their primary objective was to serve the public in a more thorough, conscientious, and friendly manner than anyone else had ever done. Little did they know that the public they served would grow to include patients such as; Joe DiMaggio, Billy Williams, Placido Domingo, and even the Pope! In fact, Harry Carey's trademark glasses were made by Rosin Eyecare. Nearly 70 years later, Rosin Eyecare is run by the third generation of Rosin's (Jonathan Rosin, M.D. & James Rosin) along with a team of talented doctors and staff. The practice, today, which integrates Opticianry, Optometry and Ophthalmology, is ranked among the top 100 optical practices in the United States and consists of 12 offices.

Dr. Sorrel Rosin joined the practice in 1957 working at both the Cicero and Devon Avenue (corner of Devon and California Boulevard) offices. He noticed a migration of the Cicero and Devon Avenue patients moving to other communities. His reason for expanding into new locations was to continue to offer excellence and convenience of care to those patients who had moved. This strategy of "following" the Rosin Eyecare patients was a huge success.

Today, under the direction of Sorrel's sons James and Jonathan, Rosin Eyecare is one of the very few eye care practices in Illinois that can help patients throughout their lives. From the selection of new eyewear to the surgical correction of vision problems, including LASIK and Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) Rosin Eyecare's commitment to their patients is evident in the array of services they offer.

Throughout our history, the doctors and staff of Rosin Eyecare have continually worked to provide the highest level of care for each individual patient. Our growth is directly attributed to the mutual loyalty of both Rosin Eyecare and our patient's.
